Extreme wedding ahead...
Where in the world could you get married where there has never been a war, learning about the true beauty of nature is the upmost priority & where no one you know has got married there before? That's right, Antarctica! The ultimate adventure destination wedding in Antarctica!
Well the first Antarctic Destination Wedding happened for the first time this year. Julie & Tom got hitched on the 15th &16th July on Adelaid Island on the Antarctic Peninsular… because if you're going to get married in Antarctica, it's best to milk it out over two days of course.
Together for over ten years, these two field guides for the British Antarctic Survey are true explorer goals. They are part of a 20 person team that maintain the research facility over the winter months. With limited daylight, 30 miles per hour winds & freezing temperatures, I know I'd want a snuggle buddy!
One detail I really reveled in was Julie's 'something old'… she fashioned the canvas from the old pyramid tent! The wedding celebrations included a champagne breakfast, cuisine from the teams chef & the most exhilarating setting. No fuss required, the landscape speaks volumes!
My step daughter Abigail & I have a pact that we're going to visit all 7 continents before our respective 'big birthdays'. 5 down, 2 to go… & what a way to visit Antarctica than to plan a wedding there? If any of you lovely couples are feeling really brave, let's do this Antarctic Destination Wedding!
Has this inspired the intrepid adventurer in your wedding plans? Go ahead & send The Destination Wedding Co a message to get the ball rolling!
